Pick a contractor known for high quality work and that has an established reputation in the community.
As a client, you must be assured of the following principles requirements in order to know the builders are reliable:
- Listing in the telephone book
- Insurance Policy Certificate
- Job pictures and places
- Warranty/Guarantee
- Reviews
As a client, these really are great but insufficient. Just about Any contractor today can produce these things. The mark of the great versus the top is found by asking more probing questions. Consider such as:
Training of company personnel on application of product - look for evidence that employees are experienced - ask how workers are trained or selected.
Definition of quality for all Services and Products they offer. Do you understand what to Search for to ascertain what makes one job better than another?
Knowledgeable sales employees that provide clear options and benefits of various strategies to repairs.

See if the company provides any value-added client services. What can you anticipate before and/or after the job?
Obtain suggestions from more than 1 contractor and make sure that all are bidding on the same type and quantity of asphalt mix.
Do bids clearly identify the same kind of product/service to be used?
What is estimated time frame to complete the job (e.g. does it require one company longer and lead to greater disturbance to your company)?

Be sure that the thickness of the asphalt agreed upon is the compacted thickness.
Asphalt is laid by a paving machine and then compacted with a roller (2 inches).
Ask for the contractor's WCB account number, then telephone to confirm It Is Current.
If they don't have one and someone gets hurt, guess who's responsible.
See other paving sites by the paving company and talk with the owners of their jobs.
Insist on a written contract or agreement, along with any guarantee offered by the paving contractor.
When possible, make provision to keep some portion of the payment due the contractor until there's complete satisfaction with the quality of their finished drive.
